About me
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year and high school! My name is Cody Chau (Mr. Chau) and I will be your English 9/Ac Lit teacher for this year. This will be my 3rd year teaching high school and my first year at Kennedy!
Just a little bit about myself…
- I grew up in Westminster, California.
- I have been living in Fremont for the past 2 years.
- I am a first-generation college graduate (the first in my family to graduate from college).
- I enjoy playing video games (just built a new PC this past summer), reading, listening to music, cooking, and eating junk food in my spare time.
- I am a huge Star Wars fan and I have a “modest” BB-8 collection.
- I studied abroad in Taiwan to learn Mandarin

Why I Teach
One day my 5th grade teacher took notice of a small act of kindness I did for another classmate. She told me that I would make a great teacher one day. It was such a small comment but it had such a profound impact on my self-esteem and purpose. Since then I have had a deep belief in the impact teachers can have on the life trajectory of students. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a self-made person. I had a strong community and strong support system that believed in me in times where I didn’t. I believe that teachers play a crucial supporting role in students’ lives--not just helping them gain confidence in their academics, but confidence in themselves. Plus...teaching is challenging and fun!!
